This course is an introduction for beginners and experienced shooters to pistol handling skills, safety and marksmanship. Students will be introduced to the fundamental safety principles and characteristics. Upon demonstrating proper safe handling of the weapon, students will learn marksmanship techniques and principles specific to pistol handling. Students can expect to fire more than 400 rounds on the simulator and 400 rounds live. An online learning package will accompany registration to prime the student prior to beginning the course.

Our team of veteran instructors includes operational experience from military and law enforcement backgrounds. We’re confident you’ll learn something new from our instructors and your skill will improve as a result.

Main Teaching Points

• Characteristics, description of parts and safety principles;
• Review of fundamentals – grip, stance, sight picture, trigger manipulation;
• Safe handling skills – safety precautions, load, ready, fire, unload (for inspection clear weapons);
• Marksmanship principles – practical applications from standing, kneeling positions;

Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate, and be eligible to attend Intermediate Pistol and Tactical Fitness classes.

Course instructions will follow registration.

Firearms and ammunition are a student responsibility and 400 rounds of live pistol ammunition is required.

Equipment required:

– Pistol (option to bring holster & belt set up, not a holster course)
– 400 rounds of ammunition minimum
– 3 magazines minimum
– Eye and ear protection
– Firearms license

A valid restricted firearms license is required.

Ammunition not included. Ammunition may be available for purchase at the range. We strongly recommend you arrive with the required ammunition. No hand-loaded ammunition permitted on our courses. Firearms are available to rent for $85/day.
